If you spend a fortune on anti-aging creams with disappointing results, you should know that the cosmetics industry is keeping a well-guarded secret. The reason is simple: there's no profit in revealing that two base oils, probably already in your cupboards, can outperform their expensive formulas. By cleverly combining coconut oil and castor oil, it's possible to create a two-minute daily treatment that can smooth wrinkled skin and stimulate collagen production.
Why do commercial creams fail?
Most commercially available anti-aging creams use silicone to create a temporary plumping effect. They improve the skin's appearance for a few hours but provide no long-term benefits. Worse still, some contain alcohols that dry out the skin over time, leading to product dependence. The natural method, on the other hand, aims to restore the skin barrier from within.
The synergistic power of two ancient oils
The effectiveness of this remedy lies in the very precise combination of two fatty acids that are unique in nature:
Coconut oil: It consists of nearly 50% lauric acid. This acid has a proven ability to stimulate collagen production at the cellular level. In addition, coconut oil contains the same type of fatty acids that make up our skin's natural protective barrier.
Castor oil: Used for over 4,000 years, particularly by the ancient Egyptians, it contains ricinoleic acid. This acid has an exceptional penetrating ability, reaching down to the dermis, the deep skin layer where collagen is actually formed.
The problem with castor oil alone is its thick, sticky texture, which makes it difficult to spread. This is where the magic happens: coconut oil acts as a carrier oil. It prepares the skin's surface thanks to its lauric acid, allowing the ricinoleic acid in the castor oil to penetrate deeply and fill in fine lines from within by attracting moisture.
Exact recipe and perfect ratio
Contrary to what you might think, these oils should not be mixed in equal parts. After numerous tests, the ideal ratio for a pleasant texture while maximizing penetration is as follows: 60% coconut oil to 40% castor oil.
To prepare your anti-aging serum (which keeps for about three months), mix the following in a small tinted glass bottle:
2 tablespoons coconut oil
1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon castor oil
Storage tip: Add 10 drops of vitamin E oil. It acts as a natural preservative to prevent the mixture from going rancid while offering its own antioxidant benefits.
