The loss of her father just months before prom left Nicole feeling as if the world had suddenly become far too quiet. Since childhood, it had always been just the two of them. Her mother had died during Nicole's birth, and her father, Johnny, had dedicated his entire life to raising her with love, patience, and respect. He worked as the school janitor, a job many students looked down on, and Nicole often heard hurtful rumors in the hallways because of it. But Johnny never let bitterness enter their home. Despite all the difficulties, Nicole admired him greatly and dreamed of one day making him proud.
When Johnny became seriously ill, he worked as long as he could. Even in the most difficult times, he spoke with great enthusiasm." He was looking forward to a special moment he had hoped to experience: Nicole's prom. He wanted to see her beautifully dressed and smiling with confidence as she entered adulthood. Sadly, he passed away before that day arrived. After the funeral, Nicole moved in with her aunt and struggled to find meaning in the celebrations that had once meant so much to her. While her classmates talked about expensive dresses and glamorous plans, she quietly searched for a way to keep her father in her heart during this important stage of life they had both waited so long for.
